The jobs Bulacan houses send us

Bulacan is where we work first, and every job on our list is taken here. These are the ones the province itself makes more likely:

  • Weak pressure upstairs A tank and pump set-up, fitted in the order the rules allow: mains, tank, pump, house.
  • A leak near the meter We repair your side of it and tell you which town water district to ring about theirs.
  • Drains that back up in high water Floor drains and sumps in the river towns, checked before the next dam release.
  • Blocked toilets and sinks Cleared with a snake or a jet, without harsh chemicals.
  • Water heaters Repaired or replaced, and we say which it needs before anything starts.

Worth knowing before you send it

  • Your water district is printed on your bill. It is who to call about anything before the meter.
  • If there is a pump, say whether it draws from a tank or straight from the line.
  • If you are in one of the river towns, say so. A drain that runs backwards after a release is a different job.
  • A photo sent with the form helps us say what to bring.

After the form reaches us

  1. 1 We read it and reply with what it looks like and when someone can come.
  2. 2 The estimate is free. The figure, travel expense fee included, comes before any work.
  3. 3 If the fault is on the water district’s side of the meter, we tell you rather than start on it.
The four steps between the problem and the work Four steps left to right. One, send the problem, photos help. Two, we come and look, and looking costs nothing. Three, you hear the figure on site, with the travel already inside it. Four, you say yes first, and then the work starts. 1 send the problem photos help 2 we come and look looking costs nothing 3 the figure, on site travel already inside it 4 you say yes first then the work starts

Drag the drawing sideways to see all of it.

The same four steps for every job here: you send the problem, we come and look at no charge, you hear the figure on site, and nothing starts until you say yes.

What is different about plumbing in Bulacan

A backwater valve, open and shut The same drain pipe drawn twice, with a hinged flap inside a valve body. On the left, your own water leaving the house to the canal or sewer pushes the flap open and flows through. On the right, water coming back up the line from outside pushes the flap shut against its seat, and the pipe stays sealed until the level outside drops. Your water going out flap pushed open from the house to the canal or sewer Water coming back flap held shut house side from outside sealed until the level outside drops

Drag the drawing sideways to see all of it.

What a valve on the line out does in the river towns: your own water still leaves, and when the level outside rises above the level inside, the flap shuts instead of letting a floor drain run backwards. Our backwater valve guide covers where one goes.

Three things below, and none of them is true of every province. Each one is checked, and the source is named so you can go and look rather than take our word for it.

There is no single water company in Bulacan

Bulacan is not served by one utility the way a city is. Water comes from your own town’s water district, and the province has around two dozen of them, each with its own office, its own billing and its own number to ring. Their bulk supply comes from Angat Dam through the Bulacan Bulk Water Supply Project: San Jose del Monte, Marilao, Meycauayan, Bocaue, Obando and Balagtas were connected first, then Guiguinto, Calumpit, Bulakan, Plaridel, Santa Maria, Paombong and Malolos, with Baliwag, Norzagaray, Hagonoy, Pandi, San Ildefonso, San Miguel and San Rafael in the stage after that.

What that means for you

It matters the moment the problem is not inside your house. A leak before the meter, a meter that will not stop turning, a whole street with no water: all of those belong to your town’s district and not to a provincial hotline, and ringing the wrong one loses you a day. We work on your side of the meter. Anything on theirs, we will tell you so and tell you who to call.

Your pump is not allowed to draw straight off the mains

Most houses here run a tank and a pump because the pressure off the line will not reach an upstairs shower. What a lot of people do not know is that the arrangement is not optional. The Department of Health’s rules under the Code on Sanitation of the Philippines say plainly: "Booster, pneumatic, pressure or other pumps shall be prohibited to be connected directly to main water lines when water source is from public water supply system."

The lawful order is mains, then tank, then pump, then the house. A pump bolted onto the incoming line is pulling against your neighbours and against the meter, and it is the first thing a district inspector looks for.

What that means for you

If your pressure is poor and somebody has offered to "just put a pump on the line", that is the illegal arrangement and we will not fit it. The fix is a tank the pump can draw from. If you already have one fitted the wrong way round, we can say so before it becomes a disconnection.

In the river towns, water arrives from the wrong direction

When Angat spills it goes to Ipo and Ipo goes to Bustos, and what Bustos releases runs down through Bustos, San Rafael, Baliwag, Plaridel, Pulilan, Calumpit, Paombong and Hagonoy on its way to Manila Bay. In those towns the water that reaches a house in a bad week is not only what fell on the roof.

What that means for you

It changes what is worth fitting. A floor drain with nothing to stop a reverse flow is an open pipe when the level outside is higher than the level inside, and a sump that has never been tested is not a sump. If you are on that run, the question to ask before the next release is which of your drains can run backwards.
